Israel, Official partner country at DesignArt Tokyo 2019

Israel – Official Partner country  – DESIGNART Tokyo 2019

Israel, a very unique player in the international design field, has developed a surprising design DNA. A land of innovation, its ancient roots, and rich tradition merge with its contemporary existence to create a vibrant and dynamic eco-system not only in thriving high tech industry but also in its design field. Israel’s unique context creates a design which is a meeting point of East and West, Old and New, Religious and Secular, which can only be birthed in a place that is a junction of worlds.  We are delighted and honored to be invited as the Partner Country to DesignArt Tokyo 2019 and share and introduce Israeli design to the Japanese public.

JERUSALEM DESIGN WEEK

Jerusalem Design Week, an initiative of the Ministry of Jerusalem and Heritage and The Jerusalem Development Authority, is Israel’s largest and most influential public design event. JDW has been held under the activity of the Hansen House Center for Design, Media and Technology since 2011 and managed by the Ran Wolf Company.

Hansen House hosts a spectrum of diverse activities throughout the year to promote the design sector in Jerusalem and Israeli designers in general. Jerusalem Design Week is the main event in the tapestry of Hansen House’s annual activities and constitutes its flagship project.

Each year JDW focuses its attention on a central theme that looks at the unique socio-cultural landscape as a living laboratory to explore urgent global issues, with the belief that design must respond to such issues.

The event sets off its first major international presence in Tokyo through two projects in two different Tokyo locations, showcasing its curatorial agenda, local talent and unique spirit.
